Issue
When running PowerLink under Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 some queries (gadgets) may take a long time to complete. This issue is intermittent and occurs due to a known issue with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 and the Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine which is used by PowerLink. Microsoft have advised that the issue can be virtually eliminated by increasing the CPU priority to real-time.
Workaround
A Windows Service has been written which addresses the issue and should be installed on any workstations which are affected by the issue (if using terminal services, install on the server as well if needed). This service manages the CPU priority and CPU affinity of the affected processes. You can download the service from here.
